successful history. In 1921, Heinrich Wild, Robert Helbling and Jacob Schmidheiny
founded a company called Heinrich Wild, Werkstätte für Feinmechanik und Optik,
in Heerbrugg. Over the course of 100 years, not only has the Heerbrugg site
evolved with new sensor and software technologies and business models, but it
has also had a significant impact on the development of the Alpine Rhine Valley
into a major cluster of precision industry and photonics.
