Oertli over the course of time

Since the company was founded in 1955, Oertli has developed from a workshop for surgical instruments into one of the world’s leading suppliers of equipment and instruments in ophthalmic surgery. Oertli’s history is rich in innovations, highlights, and scientific successes.

Over the past decades, Oertli has contributed significantly to technical progress with numerous innovations, patented procedures, and a consistent focus on quality. Focusing on our core competencies and a high level of interdisciplinary knowledge are central aspects of our success. Today, we are masters in the development, production, and distribution of complex electronic control units, highly precise micro-instruments and sterile surgical accessories. Over 180 employees work at our production site in Berneck in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley. And ensure every day that the success story continues to be written.

Our guiding principles

The name Oertli stands for Swiss quality, highest precision and reliability. We develop and produce exclusively at our Swiss location in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley. This means that we not only have access to highly trained employees and a dynamic environment, but also that we always have the properties and characteristics of our products under our own control.

With high-quality equipment and instruments as well as first-class services, we set standards and create tangible added value. In the course of the company’s history, Oertli has developed numerous innovations and novelties, thus leaving a lasting mark on ophthalmic surgery. However, these successes do not allow us to become comfortable – on the contrary. Every day we ensure that our spirit of research remains alive and that our hunger for innovation is constantly fed anew.

Although we are present all over the world and orientate ourselves towards the international market, we always remain an independent family business at heart with a backbone, strong roots, solid financing and teamwork. Those who work at Oertli do so with a great willingness to perform and motivation. Because everyone gives their best and puts their own merits on the line, we are able to position ourselves successfully and confidently in the market. On this basis, we make the difference – for eye surgery, for our customers, for the patients.

Our mission
We strive to develop surgical equipment and instruments that open new possibilities for eye surgery. With our surgical platforms and instruments, we actively ensure that procedures become even safer, easier, more effective, and more successful. . Our devices can be used under the most difficult conditions and make modern eye surgery accessible to as many people as possible.

We take our mission seriously. There is only room for what benefits patients and adds value for surgeons. Even though Oertli builds on a long tradition, we always look to the future. We want to shape tomorrow, we want to shape the future of eye surgery and make our contribution to optimising eye health worldwide.
